元朗慶祝天后寶誕之會景巡遊，自1963年起，每年於農曆三月廿三日上午起舉行。現在巡遊於元朗雞地(地方名稱)集合出發、經教育路、到元朗大球場匯演、最後到三百多年歷史的大樹下(地方名稱)天后廟酬謝神恩，各花炮會多有盆菜會或晚宴慶祝及投花炮等餘慶，此乃元朗 每年最大最熱鬧的盛事之一。

Tin Hau Festival, as known as the birthday of goddess of the sea. The Tin Hau Festival Procession held annually on the 23rd day of the third lunar month since 1963, and it is one of the biggest and community-wide events in Yuen Long. During the day, processions set off at Fung Cheung Road, go via Kau Yuk Road and the Yuen Long Stadium, and finally end at Tai Shue Ha Tin Hau Temple, which already has a 300 years history to pray to Tin Hau. After the parade, there will be drawing of Fa Pao (tower of paper art for paying tribute to Tin Hau) and Poon Choi (food served in basins) feast with every Fa Pao’s parties, which usually known as the group of residents from difference walled villages along the Shap Pat Heung in Yuen Long.

The ideal route:

  • Dinner at Yuen Long after work at the night before Tin Hau Festival
  • Following the dinner, go to Tai Shue Ha Tin Hau Temple and see the villagers to return the "Fa Pao"
  • And then go for a supper
  • Rest in the international class hotels or the holiday camp sites nearby the region
  • Watch the procession in the morning of the day of the Festival
  • Visit other famous monuments or theme parks in Yuen Long in the afternoon
  • Try the feature foods of Yuen Long, like Sweetheart Cake, desserts, and Indian/Pakistani/Nepalese cuisine.

 天后誕「一般」程序 

  • 農曆三月廿二日 傍晚

    • 還神、還花炮 (約晚上 9:00-12:00最熱鬧)

  • 農曆三月廿二日 晚上約11時

    • 各村村代表會在大樹下天后廟上頭注香、拜神，然後有一些儀式如『喊禮』、『讀祝文』等。

  • 農曆三月廿三日

    • 上午約9時開始,各花炮會龍獅隊與表演團體集合

    • 上午約10時起行

    • 約11:00 時左右 (以第一隊到達計算)，到達元朗大球場主禮台表演 

    • 表演完畢，村民的龍獅隊會繼續前往大樹下天后廟參神 

    • 約下午二時左右，會請出天后娘娘於天后廟對面的小涼亭，舉行抽炮。

General Procedure of the Tin Hau Festival

  • Evening of the 22nd-day of the third lunar month
    • Thanksgiving and returning of Fa Pao (Most liven up around at 9pm to 12am)
  • Around 11pm of the 22nd-day of the third lunar month
    • Each villages’ representatives go to Tai Shue Ha Tin Hau Temple to light up the first joss sticks and worship, and some other rites such as “Shout Ceremony” and “Read Joy Script”
  • The 23rd day of the third lunar month
    • All parties with Lion and Dragon Dance crews and other performing groups gather at around 9am in the assembly point
    • Processions start at around 10am
    • The first group reaches and performs at the center of Yuen Long Stadium at around 11am
    • After the performance, all villagers of the Lion and Dragon Dance teams continue to go to the Tai Shue Ha Tin Hau Temple to pay respect to Tin Hau
    • At around 2pm, the committee will invite Tin Hau (move the Tin Hau statue) to the pavilion opposite to the Tin Hau Temple, and start drawing of the Fa Pao.

  於天后誕前夕晚，各村都有個儀式叫【還炮】；是把一個重新再造好的花炮送還給天后廟，準備誕日抽炮 (昔日是搶花炮的，但因安全問題而改為抽籤形式。左右兩圖為去年，天后誕前夕約午晚時的場面。
